Bending Spoons Surges 40% in Market Debut Despite SaaS Slump
Italian tech acquirer Bending Spoons soared nearly 40% on its first trading day, reaching a $25.7B valuation.
Bending Spoons, the Milan-based firm known for acquiring and revitalizing well-known but stagnating tech products, defied a broader SaaS downturn in its market debut. Shares closed at $40.50, almost 40% above the $29 IPO price, giving the 13-year-old company a market cap of $25.7 billion — more than double its last private valuation of $11 billion.
The offering raised $1.68 billion. The strong debut came even as investors have grown wary that AI-built software could eventually displace traditional SaaS businesses.
